You will learn the basic principles of 5S: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain;
You will learn how the application of 5S will bring improvements to your process such as: reduction in health and safety hazards, cost reduction, improved employee engagement and motivation, reduced process time, quality improvement, etc.
You will increase the discipline in your team and lay the foundation needed for continuous improvement (kaizen).
5S began as part of the Toyota Production System (TPS), the production method created by Toyota leaders in the early and mid-20th century. This system, often referred to as Lean manufacturing in the West, aims to increase the value of products or services to customers. This is often achieved by finding and eliminating waste in processes. 5S is considered a fundamental part of Toyota’s production system because unless the workplace is in a clean and organized state, achieving continuous improvement is difficult. A disorganized space can lead to errors, production delays, and even accidents, all of which disrupt operations and negatively impact the company. By having a systematically organized space, a company increases the likelihood that production will happen exactly as it should. 5S is a methodology that will help you reduce waste and increase the efficiency of your processes, and, as a result, increase customer satisfaction.
